CALL FOR PAPERS

On these days, the balance between economic development and environmental protection is unremittingly a hard problem in every, and most particularly, developing countries. Vietnam is also now facing the dangers of environmental insecurity which spring from limitations on policies, legal regulations as well as implementation mechanisms. Studies on how to improve Vietnamese policies and legal regulations relating to environmental security on the basis of the experiences of foreign countries are truly in need.

To serve as a forum for Vietnamese and international academia to exchange ideas on the legal aspects of environmental issues, and to expand the research network on environmental law, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law is going to organize the International Conference “The Interrelationship between Environmental Protection and Political-social Stability and Economic Development from the Legal Perspective”.

          Conference themes and requirements

We welcome experts, researchers, scholars and practitioners to contribute papers for the conference on the followings themes:

1. Environmental impacts on political and social stability: consisting of the following topics:

- Current status of environmental conflicts in Vietnam and the problem of environmental security;

- Regulations on pollution control and environmental security assurance;

- Regulations on prevention and response to environmental hazards and their impacts on environmental security;

- Regulations on environmental dispute settlement;

- The significance of correcting environmental law violations;

- East Sea disputes and their impacts on the marine environment of Vietnam;

- Regulations on disclosure and the right of access to environmental information;

- Establishment of specialized agencies for environmental security.

2. Environmental impacts on economic development: consisting of the following topics:

- Legal issues concerning environmental security and sustainable economic growth;

- Import controls on alien species;

- Regulations on accessing the right to exploit and use environmental components;

- Impacts of international water exploitation on environmental security in Vietnam and legal issues;

- Social responsibilities of corporations and environmental protection;

- Legal issues concerning climate change and impacts on environment and development;

- Regional links and environmental security;

- Effects of environmental security on the investment environment and legal issues.

-    Abstract submission: July 1, 2017.

-    Full paper submission: September1, 2017.

Structure and Format of the Paper

-       The length of the paper should be 8 pages (not including the list of references) and should include:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Results and discussions
  • List of references
  • The paper can be in Vietnamese or English. The paper in Vietnamese must have an abstract in English.

-       Paper format: Paper shall be submitted in word format. Times New Roman font, size 13, line spacing 1.2, in A4.
