Introduction

HOCHIMINH CITY UNIVERSITY OF LAW

CENTRE FOR LEGAL RESEARCH ON HUMAN AND CITIZEN RIGHTS

Centre for Legal Research on Human and Citizen Rights (HCRC) of Hochiminh City Law University is the University’s unit responsible for research and education of law on human and citizen rights.


Mission
of the Centre

HCRC makes all of its efforts to be a leading centre in the South of Vietnam, concerning research and education of law on human and citizen rights.

In respect of education, HCRC provides students with proper understanding and in-depth scientific knowledge of law on human and citizen rights.

With respect to research, HCRC expects that valuable recommendations as results of its researches will be applied in the law-making process in Vietnam.


Working areas:

1.      Database: Gathering information, papers, books, law and regulations on human rights and citizen rights to set up a database that supports the research and study of students and lecturers. Arranging varying channels for exchanging of information and research results among researchers, lecturers, collaborators and students.

2.      Research: Conducting various researches that focus particularly on human and citizen rights. HCRC’s research works are based on social background of Vietnam and on international law-making experience. Research topics are stretched widely regarding economic, social, cultural, civil and politic human and citizen rights.

3.      Education: Setting up curricular for teaching on human and citizen rights within the Hochiminh City Law University (bachelor and higher degrees). Publishing textbooks and reading materials concerning law on human and citizen rights.

4.      Cooperation: HCRC is central for research and teaching cooperation with various researchers, and other research institutions, universities and teaching centres concerning human and citizen rights.

The Centre’s structure:

-         Secretariat: Than Thi Thu Hiep

-         Executive: Pham Vo Thao Lien

-         Accountant: Nguyen Thu Huong

-         More than 30 collaborators who are researchers, lecturers, and officials.
