About Ho Chi Minh City University of Law



Ho Chi Minh City University of Law is a public university, founded in 1996. Over the last 20 years it has become one of the two leading law educational and research institutions of Vietnam and the largest institution providing undergraduate and postgraduate education in the area of law in Southern Vietnam.To date, HCMUL has more than 220 professors and lecturers and 170 administrative staffs. HCMUL has educated about 35,000 undergraduate students and more than 1,400 post graduate students; and has been offering PhD in Laws since 2004. Graduates of the HCMUL include numerous prominent lawyers, judges, procurators, academics, provincial high-ranking officials and national leaders of Vietnam. The former President Truong Tan Sang and PM Nguyen Tan Dung are amongst HCMUL distinguished alumni.
In 2012, HCMUL was appointed by the Government of Vietnam as the state premium law institution, together with Hanoi Law University, for the purpose of preparing high-quality human resources, carrying out fundamental and applied research in laws, and providing consulting services to the State.  

HCMUL aims to create profound changes in quality, efficiency and scale of training, strengthening scientific research and international cooperation. The school has established partnerships with leading universities all over the world such as  Australia, Belgium, Estonia, France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, Denmark, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States; regularly organizing working visits, academic exchanges with partner universities; successfully carrying out numbers of international cooperation project with international organizations, including the project with SIDA, DANIDA, UNDP, HK2020 and AUF.
