Tran Viet Dung is Assoc. Professor of Law, Dean of International Law Faculty, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law where he lectures on international investment law, globalization and law, WTO law, ASEAN law, international dispute settlement. He holds PhD of Law from National University of Singapore (NUS); he also read international studies in the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) and international trade policy program at Harvard Kennedy School.
Tran is member of the Governing Board of the DILA (since 2016); member of the Scientific Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law; Deputy Chief Editor of the Vietnam Journal of Legal Science; member of Senior Editorial Council of Kutafin University Law Review; Senior Research Fellow at the Law Department of Tallinn University of Technology. He was ASEAN scholar of the Asian Research Institute (ARI) of the NUS, research scholar of the US-Vietnam Trade Council.
He has taught graduate courses at the Bristol Law School of the University of West England, Chonnam National University Law School, Jean Moulin University Law School, Montesquieu University of Bordeaux, Chulalongkorn University, Dong A University. Tran combines academic knowledge with practical experience as an international lawyer. He has practiced law at the top-tier law firms of Singapore for 6 years, and later with firms in Ho Chi Minh City and undertaken many consultancies for MNCs with respect to their foreign investment in Vietnam.
He was legal adviser to Information Technology Management Office of the Ho Chi Minh City Government (ITPMO). He wrote and published many articles and books in the area of international trade, international competition, international arbitration, foreign investment and environment.
